Has anyone come across this on the Doomworld forums? It's a graphic violence mod for the ZDoom based ports that ups the blood and gore level for the game. Below is an example of what you get playing with it, the mod download is in the video description link by the way.

Anyone recall this mod?
I've been looking all over all day, racking my brain, trying to recall some old Partial Conversion.

Does anyone remember a Doom 2 conversion that ended with the character shooting/punching a brain in a jar that used to be his friend? The sprite for this replaced the Romero Head and there was no Icon of Sin to blow up, just the brain in a jar.

Thank you!

KDIZD secrets!
well i spent about two nights putting this together: a complete listing of secrets in KDIZD. some of the secrets are easy to find, such as any of M1's, and some have people searching for HOURS, such as the secret exit in M3. so i figured i might as well type up a list and present it to you.

thanks to GZ for helping me find some of the harder ones.

NOTE: i make use of directions such as "north" and "south". this assumes you don't have "rotate automap" on.

knee deep in zdoom released!
the other day the (in)famous knee deep in zdoom project was finally released. i'm about to close up M5 and i must say, aside from the very bad taste in my mouth that M1 gave me this has been a good wad so far. many of the secrets, however, are really, really, really bullshit. whoever designed the one to find the secret level, in particular, needs to die in a washing machine accident.

but it's pretty good otherwise. i've provided a music wad because despite having promised a soundtrack, the KDiZD team never actually included one.

i should note that you are absolutely REQUIRED to get the newest version of zdoom or gzdoom. there is a skulltag version available here if you want to play co-op (you of course need the newest version of ST, which is at this point 0.97d)

this is probably silly of me as most of you who still read this would know already, but to run this wad simply drop it into the folder for the source port of your choice, then type in start->run: x:\sourceport\sourceport.exe -file kdizd where x is the drive number and sourceport is the sourceport you're using. to include the music file just type -file kdizd kdizdmus and you're all set to go.

Here's a nice easter egg I didn't know about yet and that some of you (those who like watching demos) might appreciate:

  1. Grab the Scythe demopack, if you don't already have it.
  2. Extract the sc15-nm.lmp "demo".
  3. Rename it to a zip file, look inside and enjoy. :)

Folks in here may be interested in these two new feeds:

This only applies to files released with Sourceforge's file release system, so things like test builds of prboom+ will unfortunately not show up here (unless entryway changes the way he's releasing them :)). But usually, those will only be of minor interest at best, anyway.

Thanks in advance!

Whee, it's a new post!

You may be interested in hearing that Planet ROME.RO, the website and blog of John Romero, now has a syndicated account on LJ, enabling you to see updates directly on your friends page: planet_romero.

(if you don't know who John Romero is, I will unfortunately have to terminate your DOOM license. :))

some of you probably haven't heard, and this little community needs some love anyway, so:

crucified dreams is out! 41 deathmatch maps from doom community gods, all highly detailed, 35 new songs, 8 years in the making.

maybe next mordeth will come out.

works just fine in skulltag.

Introduction I suppose...

Doom is one of the greatest games ever made, but you all know that already, and such is why we're all here.

I recently finished reading the first Doom book, Knee Deep in the Dead. Loved it, and not just because it was Doom-associated. Anyone else read it, and if so, shouldn't it have been the basis for the Doom movie?

For those still interested in (classic) DOOM: the 12th Annual Cacowards have been awarded following DOOM's recent 12th birthday.

Check them out, and if you haven't played those WADs yet, do so now! :)

sorely dissapointed
Who else was sorely dissapointed by the DOOM movie?
I don't even understand why they called it Doom. It certainly was not worth of the title.
Where were the demons? Where was Hell? They didn't even try. Instead they purposfully just threw in some genetic mutation crap. They HAD an ancient old transporter system there that COULD have been developed into a much cooler plot. It was as if they actually made an effort to screw up the movie.

At least they could have ended the movie with a Hell-on-Earth scene. A city on fire. But no. Shit.

this community needs a bit of life.
so here's some news. not exactly a new release, but at the very least some news on a project that's maintained radio silence for most of the year: knee deep in zdoom.

they're shooting for a december release, which would actually be close to doom's 12th birthday... (december 10)

For those interested, Andrey Budko (entryway)has just released a new TAS run of the entire DOOM 2, in 14:37 minutes, a four-second improvement over his previous 14:41 TAS run posted in January 2004. Get it while it's hot on his DOOM page at http://www.geocities.com/e6y/doom.html . :) For comparison, the fastest non-TAS run of DOOM 2 is Radek Pecka's 26:09 from late 2003.

Note: this is a doom2.exe-compatible demo; you can also watch it with PrBoom on modern computers.

Doom: the greatest game ever. period.
I'm new to this community, and was rather surprised that it even existed when I spotted it. I'm a big classic doom fan; I play it all the time.

Anyhoo...How do people generally go about setting up DeathMatch games for the classic Doom games?
